Laura Degnan is an emerging writer/director working in film and is represented by Julie Press at Kitson Press Associates. Laura has worked in development roles at Kudos Film and TV, RS Productions and the BBC.
Laura has been a lead filmmaker and mentor on national initiatives including the BFI Film Academy talent development programme. She delivers writing and filmmaking activity for organisations including Teesside University, Cape UK and the Anne Frank Trust. Laura recently completed a year-long artist in residence at Durham University.
Laura wrote and directed The Lost Girl, which was an official selection at the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica and London Short Film festivals in 2016.
Laura has written and directed a number of short films, including Blind Eye, which was part of the Palm Springs official selection, and a conceptual music video for The Guillemots.
Laura set up Writers’ Block North East in 2010 to support creative talent in the North East region. She is a director, mentor and workshop leader and is currently collaborating with the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art to deliver a year-long Writer in Residence programme.
